As in the previous years, FIS Informationssysteme und Consulting GmbH (FIS) headquartered in Grafenrheinfeld remains true to its philosophy of supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable children. For 2018, FIS has decided to support the SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. (SOS Children’s Village) with a donation of 15,000 EUR. Instead of giving Christmas presents to customers, FIS has decided in favor of this donation. “We take our social responsibility very seriously and would like to make our contribution wherever assistance and help is needed. We decided for SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. as a partner that provides dedicated and effective help,” explains Ralf Bernhardt, the chairman of the executive board, the reasons for this decision.
As a free and non-profit association for child and youth welfare, SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. particularly helps socially disadvantaged children, young people and their families. Since its foundation in 1955, it has contributed to raising children in a family environment: loved and respected in an atmosphere of confidence and reliability. Hermann Gmeiner (1919-1986) developed his idea of an SOS Children’s Village in the 1950s. Based on the assumption that one’s own family is the best place for children to develop, he was looking for a similar model for children who had no chance to grow up with their own parents. He invented the “Kinderdorf family”, where children would find a new home in a family environment. The family model has ever since been characteristic for any service offered by SOS-Kinderdorf. In addition, a wide range of outpatient, semi-inpatient and inpatient services has been built up in Germany. Currently, there are 41 facilities, among them 15 SOS-Children’s Villages as well as 29 educational institutions: SOS-youth facilities, SOS-consulting centers, SOS-mother’s centers, SOS-education and employment centers for socially disadvantaged young people as well as SOS Village communities for people with intellectual disabilities.
“Since the assistance of the SOS-Kinderdorf association is so varied and comprehensive, we consciously decided not to support a specific project. As a result, the association is able to quickly use the funds where they are needed the most,” explains Christian Lang, member of the management board, the internal reasons for the donation.
FIS only receives positive feedback from its customers for this decision as they have no doubt that the donation reaches those who need it most urgently.
