This is why FIS Informationssysteme und Consulting GmbH (FIS) and the “Stiftung Aktion Knochenmarkspende Bayern (AKB)” (“Bavarian bone marrow donation campaign” foundation) organized a typing campaign to find stem cell donors this summer, in the course of which many new potential donors were registered.
Healthy persons aged between 17 and 55 can donate stem cells. The test is done by means of a short cheek swab and takes 5 minutes at most. Afterwards, the potential donators are included in a globally networked database of the AKB foundation.
“We are glad to have offered the AKB foundation the opportunity to reach many potential donators in our company. The feedback within the staff was very positive as well,” says Michael Eibisch, HR team leader at FIS. In addition, and to support the precious work of the AKB foundation, FIS donates EUR 1,500 that can be used, for instance, to cover the costs for the test evaluations.
